The name NiiNu

The name NiiNu

NiiNu was born from the sound of my Japanese name.

It is a word created by weaving together that sound
with the feeling of Japanese words meaning cloth ( Nuno )
and to sew ( Nuu ).

A piece of fabric, on its own,
is not yet anything in particular.
But once it is sewn and enters someone’s daily life,
it begins to carry time, memory, and story.

To sew is not simply to finish a garment.
It is a quiet act of connection —
allowing clothing to become part of a lived moment.

Within the name NiiNu lies the idea that
the garment does not complete the story by itself.
Instead, the story is woven through
the lives of those who wear it.

Not for extraordinary occasions alone,
but for everyday moments
where a small sense of space and intention can exist.

The maker, the fabric, and the wearer —
their time gently overlapping,
continuing onward.

That is the meaning held within the name NiiNu.
