As I prepare for the exhibition, I find myself reflecting on what NiiNu means to me, and what I want it to become.

I’ve never wanted NiiNu to be defined by the conventional boundaries of fashion. I don’t feel the need to create a new collection every season or follow a cycle of constant releases. Instead, I’m interested in allowing ideas to evolve, exploring different forms and expressions over time.

My black-and-white striped haori with the back-frill ribbon is one example. It is an ongoing piece that continues to evolve, with each version taking on its own character.

For me, creating textiles and garments is an artistic practice. Patterns, materials, shapes, and textures are all part of the same creative exploration.

A textile can exist as a work in its own right, just as a garment can become a form of artistic expression. Sometimes they come together; sometimes they stand alone.

I want NiiNu to remain a space for experimentation, where ideas can develop freely beyond the boundaries of fashion. A space where I can follow my instincts, explore unexpected directions, and create without being confined to predefined categories.

Not just fashion. Not just textiles.

Something uniquely NiiNu.

At Gimsinghoved, I look forward to sharing a selection of NiiNu’s wearable works in a new setting, and to letting them speak for themselves beyond the context of everyday fashion.

I hope you’ll have the opportunity to experience them in person.
